Reading Luxembourg

Reading Luxembourg is promoting books and literature from Luxembourg abroad.

Dating back to the Luxembourg’s national presence at the Frankfurt Book Fair, the mission of promoting books and literature made in Luxembourg internationally has been entrusted by the Ministry of Culture to the Agence luxembourgeoise d’action culturelle (alac). Since 2019, the export programme Reading Luxembourg has developped its field of activities to ensure a strategic framework for the internationalisation of Luxembourg’s stakeholders of the book and publishing sector.

Thus, the programme is built on three essential pillars : promotion – training – information.

Since 2019, Reading Luxembourg has set up a branding for a joint communication of Luxembourg’s book and publishing sector targeting an international audience. Reading Luxembourg both informs national stakeholders on international networking opportunities, grants and ongoing calls and serves as a first contact point in Luxembourg for foreign structures, such as export programmes, publishers or any other stakeholders.

To contribute to the professionalisation of the book and publishing sector in Luxembourg, Reading Luxembourg offers thematic workshops to publishers and authors. Experts and international stakeholders are invited to share their experiences and knowledge in different fields, such as the book ecosystem and value chain, international networking, foreign rights or different tools for communication, promotion and distribution.

Various festivals and fairs – such as Livre Paris and Marché de la Poésie – are henceforth part of the field of activities of Reading Luxembourg, as well as press and publishers’ visits to discover the richness of Luxembourg’s editorial and literary landscape, a kick-off event taking place at the Embassy of Luxembourg in Berlin ahead of Frankfurt Book Fair. Moreover, a close collaboration with all stakeholders and institutions of the book and publishing sector based in Luxembourg and with the Grand Duchy’s branches in the world are part of a successful promotion and cultural exchange. Reading Luxembourg to further develop the scope of its activities.

Since August 2020, Reading Luxembourg is member of ENLIT (European Network of Literary Translation).
